This site's 2010-2015 archive includes a DT Swiss road wheel review (the RR1850) but its only Industry Nine review is of the Ultralite, a mountain bike wheelset, not a road model. We're not pretending otherwise: the weight and spoke details above are accurately sourced but from different disciplines. DT Swiss's star ratchet uses two interlocking toothed rings that can be stacked to fine-tune engagement angle. Industry Nine's pawl system uses six pawls engaging simultaneously, which the brand markets around very low engagement angles like the 3 degrees cited in the archived Ultralite review. Both approaches genuinely reduce the dead spot between starting to pedal and the wheel responding; which one a given rider notices more depends on riding style, criterium racers and technical climbers tend to notice fast engagement the most.
